Desde un yate anclado cerca de la playa, apenas puedo distinguir las estructuras escondidas en la densa jungla. Las dramáticas rocas volcánicas que salen del agua están coronadas con lo que parece ser tan solo un dosel de árboles. Conforme aguzo la vista empiezo a notar villas contemporáneas anidadas en la lujuriosa ladera por encima de la playa. Éstas son el comienzo de las One&Only Private Homes en Riviera Nayarit, México. Ocultas entre la jungla, no son tan solo las villas, sino también infinitas comodidades enriquecedoras.
Aunque aun están siendo construidas, en espera de las preferencias de los compradores para terminarlas en 2020, cada una de las 55 villas de cuatro a ocho recámaras que conforman el primer desarrollo residencial de One&Only, tiene una huella única basada en su ubicación sobre el terreno. Con más espacio por lote que cualquier otro desarrollo en México, la biodiversidad natural prospera y provee una privacidad pacífica y confortable.
Las casas se funden perfectamente con la jungla acentuada con rocas (piense en cubiertas de los baños cortadas de láminas de mármol de una sola pieza), paredes con tonos de la tierra, bañeras exteriores, espacios habitacionales inundados de luz hechos para entretener, y albercas tipo Infinity que cuelgan de la jungla. Las estructuras contemporáneas, diseñadas por Rick Joy Arquitectos, y el paisaje les transporta al Sureste de Asia (aunque está usted a tan solo 30 minutos del aeropuerto de Puerto Vallarta). Planos de piso abierto contribuyen a una atmósfera aireada, permitiéndole sentirse uno con la naturaleza que le rodea. Mira usted a través de las paredes de cristal hacia las plantas tropicales y el vasto océano y no se escucha nada más que el sonido de las olas. El ambiente no tiene paralelo, pero son sus comodidades las que lo forman.
Es un lugar en donde el sol sale por encima de los pastizales ecuestres y puede ver el sol ponerse desde la hoguera al final del malecón, coctel en mano. Las horas en medio puede usted pasarlas en el Club de Playa Majahua, haciendo paddle board sobre el ventoso estuario que corre a través de la propiedad y disfrutar una cena a orilla de alberca preparada por un reconocido chef con estrella Michelin. Además, todas las comodidades de las 108 habitaciones del One&Only Mandarina resort contiguo se encuentran disponibles a los propietarios, desde servicio nocturno hasta acceso al spa inspirado en la naturaleza. Para los aventureros, la propiedad contiene extensas veredas para caminar, andar en bicicleta y montar, así como también escalar paredes y lanzarse por la tirolesa. Aquí el aburrimiento es poco probable, y esto es mucho decir para una recluida comunidad de playa.
La propiedad también cuenta con un Club de Niños del cual se sentiría usted orgulloso de enviar a sus hijos. El diseñador del club ganó un Oscar por su diseño de set de Moulin Rouge, de forma que se ve como si hubiera sido sacado directamente de una película. Con todo y santuario de mariposas, casas en los árboles, antiguos petroglifos encontrados en el terreno, y la Casa de Juan -una cabaña de un personaje ficticio en donde los chicos pueden aprender sobre los insectos que habitan en estas tierras- el club permite a los niños sumergirse en la jungla. Y esto no es todo: Mandarina también cuenta con una granja donde pueden familiarizarse con animales.
Pero los animales no son solo para los niños…si tuviera que elegir entre acariciar a un caballo o evadir el ser golpeado por una pelota de golf, ¿cuál escogería? No hay que pensarlo mucho, si me preguntan a mi, o al Director Ejecutivo de Desarrollo Comercial Ricardo Santa Cruz. Durante la cena en la cercana Punta Mita, Ricardo explicaba que intencionalmente no construyó un campo de golf y en su lugar incluyó un centro ecuestre, basado en la conexión que tenemos los humanos con los caballos y la naturaleza excluyente y de horas sin fin que suponen el golf. El Mandarina Club de Polo y Ecuestre ofrece establos, campos de polo, y arenas de salto y doma clásica. Además, es el club hermano del Club de Polo de Aspen Valley, de forma que los miembros disfrutan de los mismos derechos.
A tan solo 15 minutos en coche, el poblado de playa de San Pancho ofrece una auténtica experiencia mexicana que hace que valga la pena salir de Mandarina. El pueblo está tan lleno de color y es tan hermoso como lo es pacífico y relajado. Las calles empedradas están alineadas por edificios color pastel envueltos de buganvilias y minúsculas tiendas. Restaurantes como el Organi-k (para un bien servido bol de acai y de poke) o el Barracuda (por un increíble ceviche y tacos) no puede perdérselos.
Cuando piensa en México, la jungla no es la típica idea que se imagina uno, pero es parte de lo que hace de Mandarina único. El floreciente paisaje le envuelve y la pulcra arquitectura y amenidades sin fin de One&Only Mandarina hacen que quiera usted quedarse. No es frecuente llegar a un lugar que no solamente sea hermoso y lujuriante sino también indiscutiblemente especial; es un espacio que cualquiera sería afortunado de llamar su hogar.
